HABC Level 2 International Award in Pool Lifeguarding

The Level 2 International Award in Pool Lifeguarding is for those learners wishing to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a qualified pool lifeguard. It covers the preparation and health and safety of a pool environmental and how to respond to emergency situations in a swimming pool environment.

This qualification allows successful learners to operate as a qualified pool lifeguard for 2 years. After this period, learners will need to retrain and go through reassessment in order to remain a qualified pool lifeguard.

How long will it take me to achieve this qualification?
This qualification is usually obtained by taking a 2.5-day combination of aquatic and classroom based course.

How is the qualification assessed?
This qualification is assessed by the following methods:

1. Practical Observation
2. Open Response Assessment

Learners must provide a short response to questions across the breadth of the course. In order to pass this assessment, learners must achieve a score of 20 from 30 questions.
